What this position entails

At IntelliScript, we are never comfortable with the status quo. We have taken several products through the market adoption curve and expect more to follow. We pursue opportunities for new growth, and expand into new processes, businesses and markets. Our product suite combines leading edge data, analytics, reporting engines, predictive models, clinical expertise, and technical expertise – all of which can be used to identify, create and pursue new business development (BD) opportunities.

Working with the Director of Business Development, BD Sales Consultants, BD Analyst and various internal experts, the Business Innovation Consultant and Actuary (BICA) identifies, pursues and develops new products and services across various markets and industries. In this highly visible role, the BICA will be stretched and challenged to continually learn new concepts, adapt to new environments and generate new market opportunities. Building new revenue streams that facilitate diversified growth is central to Milliman IntelliScript’s business strategy, highly valued by management, and rewarding to the individual.

What you’ll be doing

  • Play a strategic and vital role in growing business development (BD) efforts

  • Lead the development of the business plan and go-to-market strategy for new ventures and opportunities in the insurance industry
  • Facilitate “blue sky” new product generation and innovation
  • Diversify our revenue stream by identifying new opportunities and developing new solutions within the insurance industry
  • Listen to clients, prospects and potential partners; probe deeper to understand true business needs (i.e. opportunities); build scalable solutions collaboratively; develop studies that will help them to evaluate our BD products
  • Communicate with companies, industry leaders and experts to research the viability of new BD ideas
  • Lead product development for ideas that are green-lighted for implementation, taking them from concept to production
  • Engage other IntelliScript business units throughout the business development cycle; advise our internal experts on the best way to illustrate value proposition for new clients and opportunities
  • Ensure the smooth transition of new products from Business Development to Sales and Product Management
  • Prospect, qualify and sell early deals for new ideas with support of the BD Sales Consultant and / or Sales Associates
  • Seek knowledge of current and relevant political, legislative, and market conditions, and be able to translate information into potential customer business needs
  • Develop business plans including all milestones / stages of product and opportunity development
  • Develop and build from a solid understanding of all IntelliScript business solutions, product offerings, clients, partners, areas of expertise, capabilities and resources

What we need

  • Bachelor’s Degree in actuarial science, economics, mathematics, or other major with quantitative course work
  • Actuarial accreditation (e.g. ASA, FSA, MAAA) in good standing
  • 5 or more years of professional experience in entrepreneurial business development, sales and/or product development roles
  • Proven experience generating new revenue streams by transforming existing business solutions
  • Proven experience developing new products for existing and new markets
  • Past experience and continued ability to travel nationwide

 Location

The expected application deadline for this job is July 1, 2024. This position is open to remote work. Applicants must be willing to travel to the Milliman office in Brookfield, WI as needed and travel nationwide for meetings, conferences, and team events (up to 20%).

The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $305,000 depending on a combination of factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, qualifications, certifications, location, etc. In addition, we offer a significant performance-based bonus plan, profit sharing, and generous benefits.
