Position QualificationsColorado Peer and Family Specialist (CPFS) credential is required. Individual must have personal experience with the mental health system (self or family member). Paid or volunteer experience in advocacy in the behavior health field preferred. Previous experience must include at least one (1) year in supervising/managing employees, or demonstrated leadership abilities in the behavioral health field can be used in lieu of management experience. Job PurposeThis is a professional level position that involves working with clients involved in the criminal justice system and its partners as well as the homeless population and its continuum community partners. The position is grounded in the philosophy of recovery and self-determination of consumers and family members. Knowledge, Skill & Ability (include materials and equipment directly used):
Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications to include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Internet access.
Ability to operate standard office equipment including computer keyboard, calculator, copy machine, fax and multi-line telephone.
Interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external customers.
Ability to organize and prioritize workload in a sometimes hectic environment with frequent interruptions.
Working knowledge of Recovery Models, engagement strategies, and an understanding of consumer and family challenges.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands: Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Must have ability to sit for longer periods of time at a computer. Employee must be able to travel between Mind Springs sites. May be exposed to stressful situations that involve enraged, distraught and/or intoxicated individuals with possible mental disorders. Possible potential for exposure to communicable disease. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
