Mine Vision Systems (MVS) is dedicated to providing advanced workflow-integrated perception and automation systems which improve speed, safety and productivity for the mining industry. We are a spinout from Carnegie Mellon University’s National Robotics Engineering Center, and are located in Pittsburgh’s East Liberty neighborhood. Following the successful product launch of our FaceCapture™ Mapping System, we are in a growth mode and we are seeking a Senior Cloud Software Engineer to join our team.
As a Senior Cloud Software Engineer you will be responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and iteratively refining cloud computing software and infrastructure for robotic systems used in mining applications. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Design and implement cloud computing systems to interact with customers and devices in the field
• Collaborate with fellow engineers and product management to ensure that cloud systems are meeting customer needs
• Monitor and improve cloud application security and performance
• Rigorously test and validate solutions under a wide range of real-world conditions
• Travel up to 5% to work sites beyond the corporate office

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proficiency in of cloud compute, storage, and networking with practical application to AWS environment
• Proficiency in Python
• Proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript preferred
• Proficiency in Linux system architecture and administration
• Proficiency in virtualization and containerization
• Proficiency in infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform and Ansible
• Proficiency in cloud-based logging, monitoring, and alerting preferred
• Knowledge of database system administration for both SQL databases (Postgres) and non-traditional databases (Redis, DynamoDB)
• Knowledge of TCP/IP networking including IPv6, routing, software defined networking and virtual networks
• Knowledge of HTTP including recent versions (HTTP/2, HTTP/3)
• Knowledge of TLS including X.509 public key infrastructure and ACME protocol
• Knowledge of web application architecture
• Knowledge of authentication protocols such as OAuth2
• Knowledge of identity and access management in AWS
• Knowledge of identity federation (OIDC, SAML) preferred
• Knowledge of Linux-based network debugging and network performance testing tools (nmap, tcpdump, iperf) preferred
• Knowledge of the full software development life cycle including unit testing, code reviews, documentation, version control, and schedule estimation
• High initiative, seeking continuous improvement, actively engaged in problem solving
• Excellent analysis, prioritization, decision-making, and implementation skills with a high level of personal responsibility
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics or related field
• 3 years of experience working with cloud computing technologies
• Demonstrated related experience may be substituted for preferred education
