Position SummaryAt Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Colorado, teachers create their own lessons within the framework set by our content-rich curriculum, in collaboration with colleagues and in partnership with Hillsdale College's Barney Charter School Initiative. Teachers are dedicated to mastering the key elements of their instruction and to the intellectual and moral betterment of their students. ACANC seeks a part-time languages teacher for 8th grade Latin and Beginning Spanish (11th grade students) Teachers are responsible for the education of their students. They are expected to demonstrate high moral character and have mastery of the subjects they teach. Teachers will work collaboratively to create a working and learning environment for all students that is safe, secure, and respectful. This position would report to the Dean of Faculty and begin in August 2024. The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
Plan lessons and deliver instruction for a class of approximately 25-32 students according to ACA's classical curriculum and pedagogy
Develop and maintain a climate and culture of joy, order, and wonder in the classroom, managing student misconduct promptly and appropriately
Engage professionally and charitably with students, parents, other faculty, and staff
Model good judgment, prudence, virtue, self-discipline, and responsibility
Develop and implement student interventions, and collaborate with intervention specialists in the creation and implementation of student IEPs
Engage in professional development to deepen understanding of subject content and classical pedagogy
Use appropriate technology in teaching and learning processes, record keeping, assessment, evaluation, and performance analysis
Qualified Candidates Will Meet The Following Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree in a related field from a fully accredited college
Previous experience in classical education is preferred but not required
Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to communicate with students, staff and guardians in a professional manner
Exemplary work habits verified by previous employers

Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk, working on a computer, or standing to teach.
