This Laboratory Scientist 3 position will help support the Emergency Preparedness and Response Unit. Job Duties include but are not limited to:
- Performing Laboratory Response Network (LRN) validated molecular and culture based diagnostic tests for high-consequence pathogens in the Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) Unit.
- Providing routine testing for the DHS BioWatch monitoring program.
- Maintaining a quality system for these assays.
- Performing other LRN bioterrorism (BT) protocols.
- Assisting Units within the IDL clinical laboratory in performing other diagnostic tests.
- Performing a variety of other tasks to support the emergency preparedness and response unit.

- Three (3) years of professional laboratory experience in molecular diagnostics and analytical testing.
- Experience handling and processing samples containing potentially highly hazardous biological threat agents.
- Experience with method development and method validation.
- Ability to conduct independent and formal research studies for special projects.
- Ability to work collaboratively and train other staff members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in microbiology, chemistry, public health, laboratory science or related science field.
- Experience with high complexity clinical diagnostics.
- Experience in a CLIA or CAP certified laboratory.
