You may be eligible for a new hire bonus of $2,500 if you are hired in a part-time position that is represented by the AFSCME collective bargaining agreement! ! The work schedule will include at least 64 hours per 2-week pay period and may include additional work hours, based on business needs. The position is initially eligible for a full employer contribution towards health and dental insurance benefits.
This position will deliver licensed practical nursing (LPN) care within the LPN scope of practice, as defined by the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act, for cognitively and physically disabled residents. Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to promote the well-being, health, and safety of residents in a person-centered, long-term care environment.
The Minnesota Veterans Home in Hastings is a Domiciliary (DOM) which is an independent living community for Veterans. It provides a supportive environment that fosters a stable, healthy, and meaningful life for Veterans. Our rewarding program helps Veterans with their clinical, mental, chemical and physical needs, and has the capacity to serve 195 Veterans between the Hastings and Minneapolis campuses. We offer a creative, fun, collaborative, and stimulating work environment that encourages professional growth.
The Hastings DOM is located in the southeast metro with connecting highways for an easy commute. The beautiful 128-acre wooded campus includes mature oaks and pines, nature trails and biking paths overlooking the Vermillion River.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Licensed in Minnesota as a Practical Nurse with no restrictions
  • Ability to communicate effectively, follow instructions, and take clear notes
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) )
Preferred Qualifications
  • Training in or experience with chemical dependency, mental illness, and co-occurring disorders.
  • Experience working with Veterans
  • Computer experience sufficient to complete electronic charting and use basic computer functions such as email
  • Experience working with vulnerable adults and maintaining confidentiality
Additional Requirements
  • A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position(s). When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment
