Job Description
Anoka County District Court has an amazing opportunity to join the Family Team as a Court Operations Associate in a diverse professional environment, that promotes equity for all court staff and court users. The position provides direct service to court customers, judges, and other court-related employees through case processing of Family case types. This position performs detail-oriented work while providing excellent customer service in person and over the phone.

Court Operations Associates work individually and in teams using independent judgment along with available resources to perform a variety of administrative assignments. This role requires dedication to providing customers with a professional court experience, an eye for detail, excellent communication, time management, and technological skills to match our high-performance environment. Robust training is provided, and knowledge is gained through on-the-job experience.

This AFSCME-represented position is classified as a Court Operations Associate and located in the Anoka County Courthouse. at 2100 3rd Ave. Anoka, MN 55303, with the possibility of a hybrid work environment. Core business hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. Initial days off: Saturday, Sunday, and Court Designated Holidays.

What You Will Do
Work includes processing electronically filed and paper filed documents; assisting customers; working directly with judges, justice partners, and customers.

  • Independently performs administrative work relating to Family case processing on the Minnesota Court Information System (MNCIS), Microsoft Office, electronic File and Serve, SharePoint and other related computer systems.
  • Issues receipts for payment of court fees; responsible for managing and balancing his/her individual till.
  • May perform the duties of an Electronic Recording Equipment Operator (EREO) including setting up and testing recording equipment, and recording and monitoring court proceedings.
  • Attends and participates in division/team meetings and trainings; maintains knowledge of court policies, process, and procedures.
  • Utilizes applicable technology (i.e., operating and information systems and/or programs) and office equipment to perform and complete work assignments.
  • Process Family filings, including but not limited to, initial and subsequent filings, assigning cases to judges, setting hearings, and sending notices.
  • Assist customers with requests, questions/inquiries relative to court policies, information, procedures, and financial transactions in a courteous manner.
  • Assist attorneys, judicial staff, law enforcement, and representatives from the outside agencies.
  • Administrative duties as assigned.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of relevant job experience or greater, which may include but is not limited to customer service, administrative work, office, and clerical work
Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of court procedures and policies, laws, legal terminology, and legal factors pertaining to the court.
  • Knowledge of office and administrative procedures.
  • Customer service knowledge and experience.
  • Skill in the operation of a personal computer, remote technology, including electronic case management system and related applications and equipment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others within and outside of the Judicial Branch.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters and files appropriately and in compliance with all applicable court rules, policies, and statutes.
  • Ability to read and interpret legal documents of varying types and complexity and apply knowledge of specific laws, statutes, rules, policies, and procedures related to the area of assignment.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
