TITLE: Laboratory Assistant II- Medical Assistant or LPN
Location: Maplewood. Ability to work at Woodbury
FTE: 1.0
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm with variable start times
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE/SUMMARY: The Lab Assistant II performs phlebotomy, instrument maintenance, daily QC, urinanalysis testing, 24-hour urine processing, and processing of blood/body fluid specimens. Duties also include patient education and teaching- which includes teaching self-catherterization and self-injection, laboratory procedures - which include catherterization of patients, injections, and bladder scans, communicating effectively with patients and all member of the Metro Urology team. The Lab Assistant II ensures compliance with all CLIA, OSHA and federal guidelines.RESPONSIBILITIES:

EDUCATION/TRAINING/LICENSURE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
EQUIPMENT USED: Computer keyboard and monitor, calculator, writing utensils, telephone, copy/fax machine, and histology equipment use for testing and procedures.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires standing for long periods of time while working in an office/laboratory environment. Some bending and stretching required. Ability to lift 20 to 50 pounds. Working in a fast paced environment. Manual dexterity required for use of calculator and computer keyboard.WORKING CONDITIONS: Fast paced lab and clinical environment. Contact with physicians, management, staff, patients and vendors.
