Summary

Receives patient assistance calls from nursing staff and dispatches Medical Support Team personnel to various departments to assist staff with various patient needs.

Directs the activities of the Medical Support Technicians working / or rotating through the department including their discipline and performance while in that area.

Performs Medical Support Technician duties in the absence of technicians. Responsible for the collection of blood specimens and performing EKG’s, ensuring patient safety and consistency with age-specific considerations for all patients, neonates, infants, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.

Documents requests for services in order to provide an accurate and timely tracking system. Maintains wheelchairs, stretchers, and all other used equipment.

Cleans and sanitizes equipment, as necessary, and maintains in proper working condition. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period.

Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION : Graduate of Medical Assistant, EMT or Military Training Course

PREFERRED EDUCATION :

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE : Previous experience in a supervisory role. Phlebotomy and Basic EKG course required within the first 90 days of employment.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE : Dispatching experience

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSURE :

Medical Assistant or EMT certification : Requires annual or bi-annual renewal based on granting organization

Military Training Course : Annual renewal is not required.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSURE :

REQUIRED COURSES / COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR) : Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA);

however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
