Our Senior Accountant position(Burbank, CA) is responsible for performing and facilitating accounting, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, management reporting, budgeting, and tax processes of the Bank, Holding Company, and other subsidiary of the Holding Company.
What Will Be Your Key Accountabilities?
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process including prepare and/or review journal entries, reconciliations (i.e. due from bank, investments, loans, deposits, etc.), and analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial, management, and Board reports.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts/projections (as needed).
  • Assist with income tax related processes including preparing monthly and quarterly income tax provision and tax account true up, tax ledger/account monitoring and certification. Coordinate with external CPAs/tax consultants on the annual federal and state income tax return filings and supporting schedules.
  • Responsible for accounting aspects and analysis of the investment portfolio.
  • Prepare the monthly capital ratios calculation.
  • Prepare monthly loan and deposit reconciliations.
  • Assist with the quarterly FDIC Call Reports, FR-Y reports and other regulatory filings including coordination, preparation, and review of related schedules and support in accordance with the agencies prescribed guidelines and regulations.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual financial statements and footnotes.
  • Post data to and review data contained in the GL and various financial systems to ensure accuracy and reasonable of recorded financial transactions.
  • Prepare income and expense bank transactions including original classification, recording, and summarization of all income and expense bank transactions.
  • Assist the Controller with the monthly GL certification process.
  • Participate in the development of specialized financial data regarding the bank's daily money position, including daily, weekly, month-to-date, monthly and quarterly average balances outstanding for asset and liability categories reported to senior management.
  • Research and respond to questions regarding financial information found in financial and regulatory reports.
  • Assist with non-routine or complex accounting matters (such as derivatives, share-based compensation, lease accounting, business combinations, etc.).
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as deemed necessary.
  • Assist Controller with audit assignments including coordination with and preparation of audit schedules for external auditors.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge and may train others on products, services, departmental systems, and related technology, policies and procedures.

What Do You Bring to the Team?

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Economics/Business Administration/Finance with an accounting emphasis is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience is required.
  • Banking or financial institution experience is preferred.
  • CPA license or achievement towards CPA license is preferred.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and bank policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Excellent knowledge of general accounting principles, theories and concepts as well as regulatory accounting principles, internal accounting and reporting processes.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction from supervisor.
  • Ability to work successfully in a deadline driven, team environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy; good organizational, problem solving, research and follow-up skills
  • Requires the ability to exercise independent judgment and employ basic reasoning skills
  • Strong PC skills, (system knowledge) and excel and word.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook; Excellent in Excel.
  • Proficient in GL systems (preferably Fiserv Prologue), Call Report/regulatory report preparation applications (preferably SmartCall), budgeting applications (preferably Profitstars).
