Mission Valley Bank is Hiring a Staff Accountant - Hybrid Near Burbank, CA

Our Staff Accountant position(Burbank, CA) is responsible for performing essential accounting functions for the Bank, Holding Company, and other subsidiary of the Holding Company including the preparation, maintenance, reconciliation, examination, and verification of financial records and related work as required.
What Will Be Your Key Accountabilities?
  • Prepare journal entries for the Bank, Holding Company, and other subsidiary.
  • Prepare various Finance Department Excel schedules on a daily and monthly basis.
  • Prepare and process various month end accruals.
  • Prepare various reconciliations including correspondent bank accounts, loans, deposits, etc.
  • Complete Finance Department monthly GL reconciliations/certifications.
  • Provide backup support for Senior Accountant, Junior Accountant, and Accounts Payable Clerk including but not limited to completing journal entries, reconciliations, certifications, accounts payable processing, and Excel schedules.
  • Assist with the preparation of certain financial/management reports.
  • Assist with the quarterly FDIC Call Reports, FR-Y reports and other regulatory filings including coordination, preparation, and review of related schedules and support in accordance with the agencies prescribed guidelines and regulations.
  • Assist with account research, audits and ad-hoc tasks.

  • Understand and adhere to regulatory guidelines including but not limited to FCRA, BSA, GLBA, etc. as the regulations pertain to the employee's job function.
What Do You Bring to the Team?
A list of job experiences and qualification requirements are great, but what is most important to us is humility, vulnerability, transparency, a performance-driven attitude, and a team-player approach. Additionally, you will bring:
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, VLookup, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Fiserv Premier (core processing system) and Prologue GL/Fixed Assets/AP experience a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience is required.
  • Banking or financial institution experience is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organization and planning, research, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff and management.
  • Requires the ability to exercise independent judgment and employ basic reasoning skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work successfully in a deadline driven, team environment
