Mississippi State University is Hiring a Coordinator for International Student Engagement Near Starkville, MS

Position FunctionAs a member of the staff of the Holmes Cultural Diversity Center, the Coordinator for International Student Engagement and Programming is responsible for organizing promoting international student engagement, developing programming and enhancing the experience for all international students. Working collaboratively with the International Institute, academic units, colleges and departments.
Salary Grade: 13

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Responsible for providing high touch points for international students throughout the year.
  • Co-facilitate international student insight days with the International Institute.
  • Coordinate programs, socials, and activities focused on supporting our international student community.
  • Recommend, develop, and implement solutions to support continuous improvement to processes and procedures for international students.
  • Plan and facilitate opportunities to highlight diversity through events such as International Education Week, International Fiesta, and other themed months.
  • Establish and evaluate measurable, operational, and learning outcomes for international students served by the University.
  • Serve on divisional, university, and community committees as assigned or required.
  • Work closely with the Office of International Institute to create on-going partnerships to provide support to the international student community.
  • Provide advisory support for student organizations.
  • Performs related duties as required.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree.
Preferred QualificationsPrevious experience working with international students.

  • Advanced knowledge of issues affecting diverse populations.
  • Advanced cultural sensitivity and humility across the spectrum of diversity broadly defined.
  • Ability to lead highly visible initiatives from conception to implementation.
  • Ability to produce reports and publications about diversity program innovations and impact
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to oversee and direct staff
  • Demonstrated commitment to enhancing diversity and inclusion at the university
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and advising skills.
  • Strong organizational and management skills.
  • Sound judgement.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
  • No unusual physical requirements. Requires limited lifting of files and records and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
  • Frequent- External imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one’s control; interruptions influence priorities; difficulty to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotion issues or stress on a regular basis
  • Ability to work some weekends and extended hours
