Position Function:
The Technology & Support Services Coordinator plays a critical role in facilitating seamless access to information resources for the library community in Mississippi. They are responsible for assisting the Director of the Mississippi Library Partnership (MLP) in the maintenance of the ILS and Discovery interfaces. This role contributes to the enhancement of the overall user experience for MSU and the MLP though support, training, and running statistical reports for the membership.

Department Profile:
The Mississippi State University Library system is comprised of six libraries that include the Mitchell Memorial Library, Bob and Kathy Luke Architecture, Art and Design Library, College of Veterinary Medicine Library, Phil Hardin Foundation Libraries on the Meridian Campus, and Gertrude C. Ford Foundation Library in Jackson, MS. The Mitchell Memorial Library houses the Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library and the Frank and Virginia Williams Collection of Lincolniana. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Build and maintain a thorough knowledge of systems processes and functionality in the ILS and Discovery interface.
2. Collaborate with vendors and IT staff to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to the ILS.
3. Offer assistance to the Mississippi Library Partnership member libraries in navigating the ILS.
4. Develop and implement strategies to enhance search functionalities, metadata, and indexing, optimizing the discoverability of library resources.
5. Stay informed about emerging trends and technologies in information retrieval to continuously improve the search experience.
6. Provide training sessions and workshops to library users on effective use of discovery tools and related technologies.
7. Collaborate with subject specialists, collections specialists, and metadata specialists to ensure that new acquisitions are seamlessly integrated into the discovery system.
8. Use analytics tools to generate reports and use data-guided insights to inform the Director of the Mississippi Library Partnership.
9. Participate in all aspects of ILS support including support incidents, custom programming using APIs, and integration with third-party products such as the discovery layer, and other products used by the MLP.
10. Assist with the day-to-day management of the Library Automation System.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of scripting tools and languages (i.e. Perl, JSON, etc.), application programming interfaces, and applications for data cleanup.
- Experience working with relational databases.
- Experience with manipulating data in Excel or other spreadsheet software.

- Ability to manage multiple tasks and to work cooperatively with others.
- High level adaptability and problem-solving skills.
- Continuous learning mindset and willingness to stay updated with emerging technologies in the library domain.
- Strong initiative and ability to work independently.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort

3. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
