Missouri Highlands Health Care is Hiring a DENTAL PATIENT SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE/DENTAL ASSISTANT (FLOAT) Near Poplar Bluff, MO

Missouri Highlands Health Care is seeking a Dental Patient Service Representative/Dental Assistant Float

This position will float to any of our Dental Clinic locations which will include Ellington, Piedmont, Pilot Knob, Poplar Bluff and any future locations that may open.

The float PSR/Dental Assistant will be directly supervised by the dental clinics manager. When not being utilized at primary clinic the position floats to other clinics as needed and directed by dental clinics manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • General: be familiar with all software systems for employee and patient care (EDR, Time Card System, emailing system, etc.)
  • Professionalism: comply with directions from Dentist, Dental Clinic Manager, and Dental Director in all duties. Additionally, comply with all policies found in the MHHC employee handbook.
  • Patient Service Representative: Prepare and manage patient schedules for all dental clinic programs.
  • Follows opening and closing procedures according to office guidelines.
  • Greets patients/parents in polite, prompt, helpful manner and provides any necessary instructions/ directions. Informs staff of patient arrival.
  • Obtains and enters new patient demographics; updates patient information
  • Obtains insurance information; will requires verification of coverage by contracting insurance companies or utilize established portals.
  • Collects all co-pay and balances, as required by office policies.
  • Understands and can apply payments to balances.
  • Reviews all forms for accuracy and completion according to office policies prior to accepting.
  • Apply diagnosis codes accurately at check out.
  • Schedules return appointments at check out.
  • Proves out at closing, showing the days totals receipts; matches the days transactions and completes deposit slips. Have a second person verify the dollar amount.
  • Answers telephone.
  • Conducts self in accordance with MHHC’s employee handbook.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPPA guidelines/regulations.
  • Makes reminder calls to patients regarding upcoming appointments.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Chairside Assisting:
  • Chair Side Assisting-assist the Dentist in all aspects of providing patient care during a patient visit.
  • Pre-Charting Procedures- Escorts patient to and from dental operatory, captures patient vitals, reviews and updates patient’s documents for completion and accuracy.
  • Assist in Charting- Assist in updating and inputting medical history, dental charting, dental procedure codes, and adding all necessary information gathered in the patient clinical note.
  • Direct Patient Care- Assist in all aspects of dental care with Diagnostic, Restorative, Fixed and Removable prosthetic, Oral Surgery, Periodontics/Hygiene, Endodontic procedures.
  • Sterilization- Cleans room and equipment throughout office as needed, Cleans and sterilized instruments and is well informed of all safety protocols within the office.
  • Tele-Dentistry- Participates as data recorder when tele-dentistry is utilized in the office.
  • Dental Out Reach- Participates when required in out of the office programs during outreach dental events.
  • Cross Training Duties-
  • Reception-As needed assist with front desk duties such as answering phones, scheduling patients, checking patients in and out, explaining paperwork to patients.
  • Hygiene- As needed assist the hygienist in seating patients, capturing X-Rays, updating healing history, updating patient charting, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education

o High school diploma or GED equivalent.

o BLS (Basic Life Support)

o RDA or CDA- or will make consideration for 5 years full-time experience as Dental Assistant

  • Follow Office flowchart for daily assigned position.
  • Assist the Dentist in all aspects of providing patient care during a patient visit.
  • Must be motivated to serve the needs of patients and perform services to benefit people and Missouri Highlands Health Care.
  • Must possess a sense of discipline to work in accordance with accepted dental standards.
  • Must maintain good relationships with necessary MHHC departments and all participating entities.
  • Must possess a clear understanding of privacy practices, while maintain appropriate contact with patients, parents/guardians, &/or participating entities
  • Must possess reading and verbal skills necessary to understand and communicate, regarding dental records, procedures, and medication orders.
  • Must possess and utilize tact and patience.
  • Must possess a clean and neat professional appearance and good hygiene habits.
