Missouri Parents Act (MPACT) is the Parent Training & Information Center (PTI) in Missouri. MPACT is a non-profit organization that has been in operation since 1988. We help families, professionals, and youth understand the special education process. MPACT’s mission is to empower families to advocate for themselves so that children with special education needs can reach their full potential in education and life. What does an MPACT Regional Coordinator do?
As Regional Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in supporting Missouri families, youth and young adults, and professionals as they learn about and navigate the special education process. You will provide one-to-one support, lead training and workshops, and collaborate with community organizations, schools, and other stakeholders to extend the reach and impact of MPACT’s parent resource initiatives.
What are the primary responsibilities of an MPACT Regional Coordinator?
· Support families and youth as they learn to effectively advocate to improve student and youth outcomes.
· Deliver in-person and virtual training and workshops to parents, youth, and other professionals on a variety of special education topics.
· Create and sustain collaborative partnerships with community agency staff, educators, youth, and families to aid youth transitioning from high school to adult life.
· Engage in collaborative problem-solving, conflict resolution, and de-escalation strategies with families, educators, and coworkers.
What skills are required for an MPACT Regional Coordinator?
· Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) and special education legal procedures.
· Communication with diverse audiences, including interpersonal communication, writing, group facilitation, and public speaking
· Customer service and call management
· Technology use, including experience with online research and information dissemination, social media use, and online training, and competence with Word, Excel, and database management.
· Ability to manage and prioritize among high-intensity, time-sensitive tasks
What qualifications are required to become a Regional Coordinator?
· Must reside in Missouri in the region of the position you are applying for.
· Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, or a related field, and/or at least two years of experience in social work, education, or related organizations.
What is the pay range for a Regional Coordinator?
· The hourly pay range is for a Regional Coordinator is between $17.00 to $20.00 based on experience. There is also the opportunity for retention bonuses.
