The Associate Dean provides assistance to the College Dean in the administration of the college which may include, but is not limited to, department head and faculty recruitment and development, department head and faculty evaluation, program development, program review, student advisement, college budgeting and budget control, and indirect supervision of the teaching, research, and service activities of the college.
Description of Primary Duties
Position only available to current, regular, full-time Missouri State University employees.
The Associate Dean is expected to provide leadership in the areas of: AACSB Reporting and Compliance, Assurance of Learning, Undergraduate Curriculum Review, Course Evaluations (EvaluationKit), Faculty and Department Head Development, Support and Orientation, Annual Evaluations and Tenure and Promotion (Watermark), Tenure and/or Promotion Progress and Application Reviews, Undergraduate Recruitment, Retention, and Advising including Suspensions, Probations and Reinstatements, Approval of COB Tenure and Promotion Guidelines, Summer Research Grants, Summer School Staffing/Compensation, and Graduate Programs. The College Dean assigns other specific duties and responsibilities of the Associate Dean.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Associate Dean are prescribed by the College Dean in concert with guidance from the Vice President for Academic Affairs. A record of inclusive conduct and evidence of multicultural skills in the workplace are required.
Additional Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
1. Terminal degree in a business related discipline and tenure as a professor or associate professor with Missouri State University;
2. Leadership and supervisory experience in academic administration or equivalent demonstrated experience and responsibility in a comparable nonacademic role(s);
3. Outstanding oral and written communication skills;
4. Demonstrated strong organizational skills;
5. Commitment to excellence in, and an appropriate balance of, teaching, research, and service; and
6. Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity
Additional Qualifications
Out-of-town and overnight travel is required
