What You Will Do...
  • Manage and interact with all site functions as necessary to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental laws, policies, standards, procedures, and mandates.
  • Provide technical and regulatory guidance and training to all areas of the organization related to air, storm water, wastewater, public drinking water, sustainability, and waste management, including the use of existing treatment and disposal infrastructure.
  • Maintain all site policies and procedures related to ensuring compliance with environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports as required by state and federal Waste and Water regulations and permit requirements.
  • Manage all waste management activities (permitting, compliance assistance, compliance investigations, regulatory requirements, etc.) associated with all areas. This includes the waste storage areas and waste shipments.
  • Manage all water management activities (permitting, sampling, compliance assistance, compliance investigations, regulatory requirements, etc.) associated with all areas. This includes water monitoring and sampling requirements per tenant agreements and permits.
  • Coordinate with Site personnel to respond to any alleged violations of state and federal regulations as required.
  • In conjunction with Operations management, help control the operational cost of waste disposal and recycling activities through effective contract management, waste management, permitting, etc.
  • Develop, update and maintain the site Pollution Prevention plan along with associated inspections and reporting.
  • Develop, update and maintain the sites RCRA Contingency Plans, SPCC Plans, Tier II reporting, TRI reporting, annual waste summary reporting, stormwater reporting, etc.
  • Coordinate the response to all site spills or loss of containment events, including notifications, reporting, and cleanup activities for any hazardous material or oil release.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage all waste management activities for all site turnaround events to effectively dispose of waste and to minimize related cost.
  • Perform technical activities leading to product regulatory compliance, assessment of product safety to human health and the environment, liability avoidance, and product responsibility issues concerning existing or new chemicals, materials, products, or hard goods.
  • Contribute to the timely introduction of new/modified products. This includes developing product risk assessments, building and maintaining product Life Cycle Assessments. Working with suppliers to obtain relevant data for these assessments.
  • Maintain and expand in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and develop business processes to ensure assessment and compliance with requirements.
  • Work with the Mitsubishi Chemical America's Product Integrity team to complete filings/registrations as necessary, submitting filings and ensure proper product labeling (TSCA, RoHS Worldwide, WEEE, state waste recycling programs, e-waste, heavy metals, REACH, etc.).
  • Recognize and anticipate product regulatory trends, emerging issues and customer expectations to ensure effective management of the product portfolio, and for the timely management of regulatory requirements for hazard communication processes at the site. Work with commercial and operational leadership to ensure regulatory changes and trends are strategically integrated and communicated.
  • Assist logistics team to ensure the transit of raw materials and products across jurisdiction and borders does not result in business disruption.
  • Work with the site and customers to ensure safe handling guidance is fully implemented and that business policies are adhered to ensure the safe handling and distribution of Battery Material electrolyte fluids, chemicals, and associated products.
What You Will Have...
  • BS degree in related engineering field, Environmental Science, or Chemical Engineering degree preferred. Background and credentials in a core engineering discipline or science is required.
  • 5 years of experience working with Federal and State waste/air management regulations and permits and TSCA regulation management (State of Tennessee experience preferred).
  • 5 years of management experience including possessing good analytical and organizational skills to manage multiple activities, projects, and personnel.
  • RCRA and DOT certification for shipping hazardous waste required.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Possess experience in accounting and/or finance and account management/control.
  • Ability to work with project groups to provide environmental assistance for project development related to air, water, and waste.
  • The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $100,000. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
