Mitsubishi HC Capital America Inc is Hiring an Operational Controller Near Norwalk, CT

Position is located in Norwalk, CT

Position Overview:

Responsible for all operational accounting teams of the company including the monthly close, accounts payable, billing, and cash applications. Responsible for maintaining and implementing strong internal controls and driving process improvements.

Individuals are expected to understand, abide, and uphold the system of internal controls related to the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage Accounting team for the accuracy of the financial statements through the monthly close process and the timely reporting to HQ. 
  • Manage accounting operations (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Cash Management) and work to identify and report out on KPIs.
  • Ensure compliance with HQ reporting requirements and Accounting policies and responsible for the preparation and accuracy of US GAAP and IFRS financial statements. 
  • Drive consistency throughout US and Canada operations. 
  • Assess current accounting operations, drive process improvements, and develop metrics to monitor the effectiveness of process improvements. 
  • Serve as key liaison for External Audit, ensuring absence of discrepancies and effective and efficient audit process. 
  • Develop and document business processes to drive efficiencies and/or strengthen internal controls. 
  • Various projects including adoptions of new accounting standards, accounting aspects of IT integration projects and general ledger chart of accounts.
  • Lead, mentor, and train direct reports. 

KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators):

  • Cycle time in days to complete month-end close.
  • Contribution – Value of benefits brough in with changes (process improvements).

Management/Supervisory Responsibilities: Manage accounting operations (AR, AP, and Cash Management).

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of US GAAP.
  • SOX knowledge.
  • Good understanding of the internal control process document and control points.
  • Process oriented, ability to understand how distinct operations work together.

Education and Experience:

  • BS degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience.
  • 15 years’ experience within an accounting role for commercial loans and leases.

Licensing and Certification

  • CPA preferred.

Tools and Equipment Used:

  • Personal computer, copier, fax, phone, and other typical office equipment.

Working Hours:

  • Hours vary and will require overtime. Position frequently requires working more than 40 hours /week particularly at month end and year end. Will require working some weekends.

Travel:

  • Occasional travel related to attendance at training/ seminars held off site.

Physical Demands:

  • Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of office equipment
  • Light lifting and carrying of supplies, files, etc.
  • Ability to speak to and hear customers and/or other employees via phone or in person.
  • Body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move from one office location to another.

The salary will be between $208,000 and $240,000 with an opportunity to a discretionary bonus. 

The salary range is determined and based on internal equity, market data/ranges, applicant's skills, prior relevant experience and education.
