Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED preferred. Previous dietary service experience is preferred. Must have the ability to ready, understand and follow recipe directions, diet orders, tray cards, and work assignments. Numerical ability is necessary for recipe preparation and proper measuring of cleaning agents and chemicals, as well as good motor coordination and manual dexterity are required for various work routines such as preparing food items, serving trays, handling soiled dishes, operating dietary equipment and cleaning work area. Must be able to work flexible hours, such as during an emergency situation, must be friendly and courteous toward staff, patients, and family members.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand and walk intermittently throughout the working day, as well as reaching, stooping, bending, lifting, carrying, and manipulating various food products, dietary supplies and equipment. This employee must have the ability to work with chemicals and cleaning agents. Must be able to lift and/or carry 50-75 pounds and withstand exposure to temperature and humidity changes as to entering refrigerated storage areas, working at ovens, ranges, dish washing machines, and at steam tables. Employee must be free from infections or diseases.
Duties Include: Responsible for handling food in accordance with Sanitation Regulations. In this position there will be repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions. Must arrange trays, load food carts and assist in serving meals. Assist with setting up the dining room and serving staff and visitors. Prepare late trays if ordered. Responsibilities include helping to set-up and deliver food carts to nurses stations. Wash dishes, trays, and food carts after each meal. Perform cleaning duties as scheduled. Assist in all areas of Dietary Department during slack periods.

Mizell Memorial Hospital first opened its door almost 70 years ago. From a 29-bed facility in 1949, the hospital added a wing in 1957, followed by a new surgical wing in 1963. Growing vertically in 1969 from one to three stories, a new three-bed intensive care unit was also established. Changes throughout the years have included addition of in-house nuclear medical services, Certified Sleep Center, Senior Behavioral Care Unit, and various renovation projects of different areas.
