StaffVengers is Hiring a Direct Support Professional (TME License Required) Near Washington, DC

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will provide essential care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, or other special needs. Your role is crucial in assisting these individuals to lead fulfilling lives by promoting independence, fostering community integration, and ensuring their health and safety. You will work directly with individuals, families, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver person-centered care and support services.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Personal Care Assistance:
  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding, as necessary.
  • Provide support with mobility, transfers, and positioning, utilizing proper lifting and transfer techniques.
  • Behavioral Support and Guidance:
  • Implement behavior support plans and strategies to address challenging behaviors and promote positive behavior reinforcement.
  • Utilize effective communication and de-escalation techniques to manage crisis situations calmly and safely.
  • Skill Development and Training:
  • Support individuals in developing and enhancing life skills, such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, and money management, based on their individual goals and abilities.
  • Facilitate participation in recreational, social, and community activities to promote socialization and integration.
  • Medication Administration and Health Monitoring:
  • Administer medications according to prescribed schedules and protocols, ensuring accuracy and compliance with medication administration regulations.
  • Monitor individuals' health status, vital signs, and overall well-being, reporting any concerns or changes to appropriate healthcare professionals.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of services provided, including daily progress notes, incident reports, and individualized service plans.
  • Document individual achievements, goals, preferences, and preferences to inform person-centered planning and decision-making.
  • Advocacy and Collaboration:
  • Advocate for individuals' rights, choices, and preferences, ensuring their voices are heard and respected in decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including case managers, therapists, educators, and healthcare professionals, to coordinate and enhance services and supports.
  • Safety and Crisis Management:
  • Implement safety protocols and emergency procedures to ensure the physical and emotional well-being of individuals in various environments, including residential settings, day programs, and community outings.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, providing first aid, CPR, or other necessary interventions as trained and authorized.
  • Professional Development:
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to disability support, person-centered practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain certifications and licensures as required by state regulations and agency policies.
Job Type: Contract
Salary: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
