Restore Alternative Education Teacher
Job Summary: An Alternative Education Teacher supports academic and SEL skills development for students in the Restore (Expulsion Abeyance) Program, grades 6-12. The teacher will work with students in a co-teaching environment alongside special education staff. The goal of Restore is to make a positive impact on enrolled students, ensuring they are supported in order to reach their full potential academically and personally, and successfully transition back to a traditional school environment upon program completion.

Allocation: 1.0 FTE
License Required: Alternative Education
Essential Qualifications:
Instructing students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as critical reading instruction, discussions, project-based learning and demonstrations
Adapting teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and grade levels.
Establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students.
Establishing classroom management practices for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible, and observing requirements outlined in the Restore contract.
Developing and Implementing relevant Social Emotional Learning implementation strategies, Restorative Practices, and community building strategies.
Communicating with parents/guardians to discuss their student's progress and to determine priorities for their children and their resource needs.
Communicating with home school staff related to student engagement and progress and developing a return transition plan.

Plans and executes rigorous, engaging units and lessons; including meaningful in-class and out-of-class assignments and ensures student mastery of content. Provides necessary scaffolds, interventions, and extensions to meet a range of learning needs.
Plans and executes lessons and projects for a hybrid learning environment including use of electronic curriculum platforms (Edgenuity, iReady, Achieve 3000, etc.), and Gold Standard Project Based Learning.
Cultural Competence
Understands and can articulate the systems and beliefs that lead to inequitable outcomes for students from historically marginalized communities and adapts instruction to meet the needs of each student.
Create and sustain a welcoming classroom environment that is culturally and linguistically inclusive.
Recognizes the impact of trauma on learning and behavior and implements trauma informed practices and communication skills.
Data Proficiency
Uses data beyond standardized assessments to determine student learning needs and differentiate instruction in the classroom.
Executes daily data collection procedures (attendance, progress monitoring, assessments, etc.).
Team Collaboration
Collaborates with peers to reflect on student achievement and teacher practice data to continuously plan and improve instruction.

Takes initiative to build relationships with students and families. Understands unique family characteristics and finds ways to engage all families as full partners in their children's education.

Roles & Responsibilities:
Instruction
Establishing, implementing, and maintaining all learning plans for enrolled students
Implementation of PBL Gold Standard Framework, AVID Critical Reading, and Restorative Practices for community building and classroom management.
Actively participate in Special Education meetings
Develop academic targets based on student assessment data.
Coordinating with students, families, and school personnel to report progress.
Collaboration
Communicate effectively with OYR support staff and Contracted/Community Partners to support student progress and wellbeing.
Develop lessons and projects with Restore CC Teacher and OYR Support Staff
Effectively assign student support tasks to Restore Para-Professional
Communicate with OYR Staff to coordinate schedules and roles of support staff and community partners.
Coordinate schedules and lesson content with contracted and community partnerships delivering direct services to students.
