Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Supervisor to lead our payroll team in Federal Way, WA. This role involves overseeing the daily operations of payroll, including processing, reporting, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in payroll management, multi-state payroll processing, and team leadership. You will be responsible for ensuring that payroll is processed accurately and timely, while also improving processes and maintaining compliance with regulations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Daily Payroll Operations: Oversee daily payroll operations, including large bonus processing and year-end reporting. Ensure bi-weekly payroll processing meets all deadlines.
  • Audit and Compliance: Review and process established audit reports, coordinate with the Payroll Support Team for system maintenance, and enforce payroll cut-off times.
  • Payroll Protocols: Review and enforce payroll protocols and procedures including manual checks and time clock records.
  • Process Improvement: Work with the Payroll Support Team on bi-weekly Processing Worksheets and SOX documents. Recommend and implement process improvements for efficiency and performance.
  • Teammate Management: Provide leadership, training, and development for Payroll Coordinators. Handle hiring, promotions, evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Stay updated on regulatory issues affecting payroll and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Communication and Relationships: Develop and maintain relationships with all payroll areas and field locations. Address teammate relations issues and escalate as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in a related area preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years’ payroll experience in a multi-state, multi-EIN environment required. Two (2) to four (4) years of payroll and supervisory experience required.
  • Certifications: CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) designation preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Intermediate proficiency in MS Word and Outlook; advanced skills in MS Excel; experience with large-scale electronic payroll systems, Workday, and PeopleNet preferred.
  • Process Improvement: Experience with process flow redesign/improvements.
  • Additional Skills: Proven ability to delegate, coordinate, and motivate a team effectively. Familiarity with wage and hour laws, payroll compliance, and interpersonal situations.

Non-Negotiable Requirements

  • Previous Experience: Prior Payroll Supervisor experience.
  • Location: Must reside near Federal Way, Washington.
  • Multi-State Experience: Demonstrated experience managing multi-state payroll.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Multi-State Payroll Experience: Additional experience with multi-state payroll processing is advantageous.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
