Salary: $81,000.00 to $126,000.00
Position SummaryThe Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for utilizing the nursing process to provide safe, age-appropriate, direct, and indirect patient care while practicing within the scope of practice of the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
Department DescriptionThe LDRP team offers labor, delivery, and recovery including postpartum and newborn care by a highly trained team of nurses and medical staff in a family-centered caring, and medically safe environment. All sites are trained in GYN surgical care.
ExperienceEXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION
  • NLH Labor and Delivery:
    • Basic Fetal Monitoring skills required.
    • Previous experience in Labor and Delivery is preferred. Will train qualified RNs with Perinatal experience.
  • NLH Postpartum Gynecological Unit:
    • Previous Perinatal nursing experience preferred.
  • NLH Nursery:
    • Experience in the stabilization of the newborn is preferred.
    • One (1) year experience as a general duty nurse with an emphasis on adult and/or pediatric nursing preferred.
    • Previous experience in the stabilization of high-risk neonates is preferred.
Licenses, Certifications, And/or Registration
  • Current unencumbered Oregon RN license required.
  • Healthcare Provider Level BLS/BCLS required.
  • STABLE required within 1 year of hire.
  • NRP is required within six (6) months of hire.
  • NLH Labor and Delivery:
    • ACLS is required within six (6) months of hire unless arranged differently with the department manager.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Social Perceptiveness: Ability to work with a diverse population from pediatrics to geriatrics. Basic understanding of age-related differences in caring for and/or communicating with patients and caregivers. Possess personal sensitivity to the needs and experiences of others and a non-judgmental attitude towards persons of differing standards, values, lifestyles, and ages.
  • Adaptability/Flexibility: Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to situations that may arise with high-risk or diverse patient populations. Ability to adjust actions concerning others and adapt to offer the best possible care to patients.
  • Time Management: Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work to complete within required time frames and to follow up on pending issues. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in dynamic fast-paced environments and under pressure.
  • Communication: Effective written and oral communication skills to explain complex issues, exchange information between team members, and tactfully discuss issues.
  • NLH LDRP All: Ability to function effectively in crises. Possess critical, independent thinking skills. Basic knowledge of lactation.
  • NLH LDRP - Labor and Delivery: Knowledge of the physical and psychological changes of pregnancy, birth, and the immediate postpartum period for the mother and her neonate. Ability to initiate appropriate interventions in caring for the family during the immediate newborn period and accept responsibility for actions. Possess assessment skills specific to the high-risk pregnancy. Ability to initiate an intravenous line. Basic knowledge of pharmacodynamics of anesthesia and analgesia.
  • NLH LDRP - Nursery: Knowledge of the physical and psychological changes of the neonate immediately after birth, and during the newborn period. Ability to initiate appropriate interventions in caring for the family during the immediate newborn period. Possess assessment skills specific to the high-risk neonate.
  • NLH LDRP - Postpartum Gynecological Unit: Knowledge of the physical and psychological changes of pregnancy, birth, and the immediate postpartum period for the mother and her neonate. Ability to initiate appropriate interventions in caring for the family after delivery. Knowledge of the physical and psychological changes of the Gynecologic patient. Ability to initiate appropriate interventions in caring for the surgical patient.
