This position accuratelyapplies ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis includingskills required in performing a variety of technical proceduresresulting in the highest quality diagnostic radiograph with theleast amount of radiation exposure to the patient.

Responsibilities

25%) *Performs radiographic and fluoroscopic proceduresutilizing accurate application of ionizing radiation for radiologicdiagnosis.

Positions patient andequipment appropriately to accurately demonstrate the area beingexamined requiring extensive anatomic positioningskills.

Provides appropriate radiationprotection for patients and staff during radiation exposuresaccording to prescribed safety standards.

25%) *Adjusts technical factors to provide appropriateexposure by use of independent judgment knowledge of human anatomyeffect of disease on the radiograph and the principles of radiationas well as the specific operation of all radiologic equipmentwithin the department.

OTHER DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES :

• Assistsradiologist as needed in the performance of sterile procedures i.e.biopsies myelograms etc.
• Performs surgical andportable radiographic procedures as assigned.
• Performs nursing procedures including the preparation andadministration of various forms of radiologic contrast media andmedications and catheterizations.
• Knows toreadily identify and treat allergic reactions to contrastmedia.
• Shows evidence of continuingeducation in radiography as necessary to remain current with theprofession.
• Attends inservice educationalprograms and departmental meetings.
• Initiatesrequisitions adds or modifies charges acknowledges exams requiringthe use of the computer.
• Ability to recognizeand report malfunction of radiographic equipmentappropriately.
• All other duties asassigned.

• 2 Supervisory Reference Forms taken within the last twoyears
• State Licensure / Certifications Required(ARRT & BLS)
