13 weeks | Days | 8-or-10-hour shift | 40 hours with 32 hours guaranteed weeklyThe Estimated Weekly Total is based on working the listed hours per week and includes available stipend amounts. Please contact a recruiter for full details. Position OverviewThe Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) provides necessary support to the OR, PACU, and Day Surgery areas. He/she keeps assigned areas clean, sanitary, aseptic, and attractive by following department cleaning procedures. The CST assists the staff with the preparation of equipment and supplies needed for procedures. He/she may be asked to assist with clerical or other non-nursing administrative duties related to the department. The CST assumes other duties as assigned by the Director or designee
ACCOUNTABILITYAccountable to: Director of Surgical Services, or in the absence of the Director, is responsible to the Surgery Charge RN.
ExperienceEXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION

• Minimum one-year hospital surgical background preferred

Education

• Must have at least a High School graduate or equivalent (GED)
• Successful completion of a Surgical Technologist Course or equivalent experience is required
• Must possess a basic and thorough knowledge of the functions and philosophies of the OR Department

Licenses, Certifications, And/or Registration

• Current certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists required

EMR System: Meditech
Shift: Days, M-F 8 hours Primarily day shift, hours do vary according to the OR schedule and there will be on-call hours. Holidays are normally off unless you are on-call.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of asepsis and sterile techniques
• Ability to work swiftly and skillfully under stressful circumstances
• Ability to work with a myriad of physicians
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment
• Ability to lift forty (40) pounds from floor to waist, and from chair to bed level
• Ability to pull fifty (50) pounds from stretcher to bed
• Ability to push fifty (50) pound stretcher 300 feet
• Ability to lift five (5) pounds overhead
• Demonstrates accurate judgment and decision-making ability consistent with Surgical Technologists knowledge and skills
