Job Details:

The successful Payroll Manager will organize and coordinate the payment of employees by managing payroll preparation, completing reports, and maintaining records for a Multi-State Retail organization. The position will also be responsible for leading an Off-Shore Payroll team, training and coaching team members, balancing payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies, complying with federal, state, and local legal requirements, and maintaining payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Maintains payroll information by directing the collection, organization, and entering of data.
• Maintains payroll records by reviewing and analyzing changes in exemptions, deductions, wage decisions, and job/department transfers.
• Pays employees by directing the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts.
• Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
• Determines payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
• Balances the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
• Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
• Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
• Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
• Maintains payroll staff job results by counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed and promoting and suggesting process improvements and increased efficiencies.

Requirements:

• Proven people management, process management, and data entry management skills
• 3 years or more experience as a Payroll Manager
• Preferred hold their CPP (Certified Payroll Professional)
• Preferred Bachelor degree or 10 plus years’ experience with multi-state payroll processing
• Excellent time management, prioritization and problem solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
