MoboTrex has an opportunity to join our growing organization as a full-time Fabrication Supervisor at our Pflugerville, TX facility located north of Austin. The Fabrication Manufacturing Supervisor will provide direction and leadership for a team of hourly direct labor and temporary personnel. The supervisor must focus on safety, operational discipline, coaching/developing employees, customer interface, and execution of daily shipping schedule designed to meet lead times and customer due dates. Responsibilities

  1. Build high performing teams: Provide leadership and direction to a team of assembly personnel. Assign work and direct team in production group. Conduct daily assessments of personnel performance. Cross-train and promote learning within the organization to achieve company goals. Perform interviews and recruit, manage, and develop personnel to achieve high performing teams. Train/coach/facilitate work group and assist in identifying training needs.
  2. Support the vison: Develop and promote a culture that supports the “expert” brand and builds on the lean manufacturing culture of eliminating waste.
  3. Execution: Work closely with Internal customer, suppliers, engineering, and support personnel to ensure schedules are met. Assure quality of work through accuracy, neatness and attention to details. Maintain quality of all products in accordance with internal and external customer needs. Coordinate flow of work within or between departments. Review schedules to establish sequence and lead times. Maintain compliance (policies, safety standards, good housekeeping
  4. Continuous improvement: Recommend improvement ideas and participate in process improvement project teams. Develop plans consistent with alignment toward value streams and the reduction of cost and improvement of productivity within that value stream.
  5. Accountability: Support each other and the company as a whole by performing necessary inputs to the total process including but not limited to;
    1. Developing, managing, and updating applicable work instructions/procedures.
    2. Interface with Engineering to participate in product reviews, ECN’s, and assist in design of our products to the extent possible.
    3. Must be able to read bill of material, drawings, & assembly instructions.

Requirements

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college preferred. Three or more (3 ) years of supervisory/management experience over Metal Fabrication process and equipment including MIG welding. (Prior hands-on welding and/or metal shop experience needed.)


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  2. Ability to make good business decisions quickly.
  3. Must be able to read and interpret fabrication diagrams, and assembly prints.
  4. Good overall communication skills, both written and verbal.
  5. Able to use the ERP program as applicable to the job.
  6. Must have good working knowledge of aluminum fabrication.
  7. Punch Press/Brake Press knowledge a plus, should be knowledgeable of best practices for welding.
  8. Must be familiar with specs and tolerances.
  9. Familiarity with multiple level bills of materials (BOM’s) and manufacturing operations, such as stock locations, engineering changes, safety requirements, OSHA, and quality.
  10. Organized and analytical with ability to manage several projects at once at a fast pace.
  11. MS office proficiency, especially Excel.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the employee may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.


The employee must occasionally lift up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and ability to adjust focus.


The position is an office-based position with frequent visits to the plant floor. Must work on-site to oversee department production operation and supervise team. Up to 5% of travel may be necessary.
