Summary: The successful Construction Cost Estimator candidate will be an important member of our proven Federal Government Practice. Interested candidates should have a thorough understanding of construction means and methods and should be able to successfully develop construction cost estimates for horizontal and vertical construction in diverse locations. Duties include, but are not limited to, independent cost estimate preparation at all phases of design, cost estimate reviews/validations, value engineering cost support, facility programming cost support, and cost analysis. Direct experience in military construction with the Department of Defense’s Military Construction and Civil Works and the Department of Energy is desired. Cost Engineering certification and experience using MCACES (MII), PACES, Success, Primavera, Crystal Ball, and other cost engineering applications are a plus.
Qualification:
  • Four-year college degree (B.Sc.) in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field and three years’ related experience
  • Three to five (3-5) years of construction experience with expertise in cost estimating, engineering, construction, and construction management, or related field
  • Minimum two (2) years federal construction cost estimating experience. Experience with commercial estimating is helpful.
  • Must have clear and analytical approach to problem solving, and strong decision-making abilities
  • Knowledge of construction market in area of operation including pricing conventions and trends
  • Ability to prepare budget/conceptual cost estimates from limited information
  • Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and other design documents
  • Ability to perform accurate detailed quantity take-offs
  • Must have excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Solid organization, planning, and collaboration skills
  • Effectively coordinate and work independently with the client and stakeholders to accurately identify and capture project requirements
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Internet and Microsoft Office Suite
Desired Extras:
  • Experience with MII, PACES, RSMeans, and Success Estimator desired
  • Experience with USACE, AFCEE, NAVFAC or DOE construction programs helpful
  • Project scheduling and risk analysis experience helpful
  • CCP or CEP certification (or ability to achieve within six months) is a plus
