Summary

Position Highlights:

The Manager Quality Patient Safety has 24-hour responsibility for the management and development of Quality and Patient Safety department. This position provides direct supervision to the Quality and Patient Safety Specialists, Regulatory and Accreditation Specialists, and Management Assistant. The Manager Quality and Patient Safety provides consistent and effective coaching and development feedback, acts as a mentor, and develops professional development initiatives and opportunities to ensure the department successfully aligns with Moffitt's Mission and Values.

This position prioritizes, manages, and delegates the appropriate distribution of workload, manages staff schedules, acts as a subject matter expert, and manages the development of department initiatives, policies and procedures and oversight of status reports. This position will be responsible for building and maintaining positive business relationships across the organization in conjunction with the Director and Chief Medical Officer/VP of Quality.

This position is responsible for managing the Patient Safety plan documents and facilitate

implementation of organization wide training and development initiatives. Provides oversight of plan revisions and provides quality and patient safety policy interpretation to ensure staff are hardwired with best practices and proactively communicates revisions and/ or new regulations to necessary staff.

Additionally, the Manager Quality and Patient Safety will act as the Patient Safety Officer per the Governing Board. In this capacity, the manager will ensure only the highest levels of patient safety are practiced and all patient care provided at Moffitt comply with all appropriate rules and regulations that govern patient safety. Other applicable duties as assigned by Leadership.

  • Manages and Supports Quality and Patient Safety Initiatives - Acts as Resource
  • Initiates, Builds, and Maintains Florida Hospital Association Partnerships
  • Provides Regulatory Oversight
  • Lead Physician Peer Review/OPPE/FPPE

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Field of Study in Nursing
  • Minimum five (5) years' Acute Care Quality Management experience that includes designing performance improvement initiatives, Medical Staff Quality, TJC, CMS, and OSHA Acute Care Regulatory Requirements
  • Registered Nurse (RN
  • Demonstrated Common Cause Analysis Skills and FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis)
  • Excellent Communication, Presentation, and Team Building Skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, Access skills
  • Strong Data Analysis and Interpretation Skills
  • CPHQ (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) through the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHA)*must obtain within 1year from date of hire
  • CPPS (Certified Professional in-Patient Safety) through IHI - Institute for Healthcare Improvement *must obtain within 2 years from date of hire/transfer

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree MSN, MBA, MHA
  • Certified Professional In-Patient Safety (CPPS) certification within two years of hire. Strong Regulatory background
  • OPPE/FPPE Experience
  • CPPS, Certified Professional in-Patient Safety
  • LEAN SIX SIGMA Green Belt CERTIFICATE
