Basic Functions of Position:
Production welding of steel components into sub-assemblies or final product.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
1.\tWeld Fabrications to customers’ prints and specifications, using welding equipment, hand and power tools.
2.\tSet up component parts in jigs/fixtures.
3.\tGrind component parts as necessary. Clean final weldment to specifications.
4.\tWith assistance, set up welder current, amperage, and gas flows to specified settings. Select electrode type and consumables as specified or as directed by journeyman or supervisor.
5.\tHandle and position material with forklift, jibs, and overhead cranes.
6.\tMaintain welding equipment and tools. Keep work area clean, orderly and safe.
7.\tComplete all necessary forms and paperwork, including timecards, production reports, etc.
8.\tPerform all work functions within established safety guidelines, policies, and procedures.
9.\tOther work as assigned by Journeyman or Supervisor.
Physical Requirements / Environment:
•\tAbility to lift 50 lbs.
•\tAble to bend, stoop and climb.
•\tAble to operate manual and power tools, forklift and overhead crane.
Education / Experience:
•\tThis is an entry-level welding/fabrication position.
•\tPosition requires the use of a measuring tape and weld size scale.
•\tWriting, math, and reading skills required. High School degree or equivalent required.
