Moma is Hiring a Photography Stylist and Production Manager Near New York, NY

The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for a Photography Stylist and Production Manager in the Retail Department. As a member of MoMA Design Store’s creative team, the person in this role will have the opportunity to create best-in-class digital commerce and lifestyle still and motion content. On any given day, you might be trafficking product samples, be on set styling for photoshoots, planning campaign and catalog photography projects and managing image requests from the Retail team at large.

Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with MoMA’s Retail buying team to assess photography needs for each product taking note of key product features and how to style each item on set to show them in their best light.
  • Helps review new vendor image assets and takes note of needs for photo production.
  • Coordinates the retrieval of products for photography with various teams and ensures the timely return to the stock location.
  • Conceptualizes and oversees the execution of select campaigns and lifestyle photography.
  • Styles products in images used across our channels, including product description pages, social media, print, store.moma.org, emails and store signage.
  • Works collaboratively on set with the photographer to create lifestyle environments and help establish the look and feel of MoMA’s visual aesthetic.
  • Sources production materials, including set pieces and props.
  • Assists the photographer with talent casting.
  • Coordinates bookings for freelance talent on special projects.
  • Supervises contract employees and freelancers as it relates to propping, set design, and
    managing to budget.
  • Tracks spending under budget allocated for special projects.
  • Maintains and revises the photography style guide.
  • Makes and executes independent judgment as it relates to retail social media and e-commerce style guide policies and practices.
  • Performs physical tasks during production such as moving boxes, set pieces and grabbing products from the stores.
  • Partners with Retail Marketing team to concept, plan, and post to our social media channels.
  • Perform any other duties reasonably related to the functions described above.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years experience as a producer of digital photography projects for a retailer, digital stock house or design firm with demonstrated talent as a product stylist.
  • Excellent organizational, project and time management skills. Comfortable working under pressure with tight deadlines on a wide range of projects at once.
  • Self-motivated, thorough and independent worker with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
  • Experience working with a digital asset management system (DAM).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite basic business tools.

Supervises: Freelance production staff, including stylists, set designers, and models 

Reports to: Associate Creative Director, Retail

Dotted line to: Lead Photographer and Post Production Manager, Retail

Salary Range: Minimum of $70,000 to a maximum of $75,000 per annum
