Job Summary
Medical Administrative Assistant performs tasks specific to the healthcare industry and general administrative duties. General tasks may include answering the phone, greeting patients and visitors, ordering supplies, sorting mail, bookkeeping, gathering billing data and creating invoices. Tasks that might require specialized knowledge include updating and maintaining patient medical records, processing insurance forms, scheduling patient appointments or medical procedures and coordinating lab services. They also assist physicians or mid-level practitioner with various tasks including performing ECG, Blood Draws, assisting with vital signs and other patient care duties.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Two years of clinical experience in office and/or hospital setting preferred. Medical Terminology and Clinical Assistant skills preferred. Experience with computers and answering multi-line telephones desirable.
Education
High School Diploma or GED required. Must have acquired the knowledge/skills to do data entry into a computer and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. A degree or certification as a Medical Assistant and or training as a CNA is preferred.
Credentials
Basic CPR and/or First Aide training within 3 months of hire.
