Secretary (B) Professional Development for Monroe County ISD

Location: Administration Building - Monroe County ISD

Reports To: Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction

Salary/Benefits: According to Master Agreement with the ESPA

Available: Full-time, 48-week position; 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Monday thru Friday)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

PROBATION PERIOD: Ninety (90) working day probationary period.

Closing Date: October 23, 2023, for internal candidates.

Job Summary:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Essential Duties:

  • Prepare various documents using a variety of software packages including functions of word processing, spreadsheet development, database management, and statistical data manipulation.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate files, including confidential files, for the programs assigned.
  • Responsible for supporting the teacher production area including customer service and providing direction on use of equipment.
  • Responsible for working at the front desk including directing people to meetings, signing in/out of visitors, scheduling meetings, and generating the weekly schedule.
  • Responsible for supporting the Instructional Technology and Resource Center including checking materials in/out.
  • Prepare various reports, including statistical, accounting, and various system imports.
  • Complete requisitions, vouchers, and other forms.
  • Provide support for professional learning and student enrichment programs as needed.
  • Handle a variety of phone functions, including messaging, scheduling of appointments, and information search.
  • Search files for information, including electronic files such as the Internet.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers and the public.
  • Maintain regular, predictable in-person attendance.
  • Adhere to MCISD Guidelines and Policies
  • Follow work rules.
  • Carry out all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Minimum of an associate degree, required,

TESTING:

  • Prior to hire must successfully pass Microsoft Office Suite Normal User test (Word, Excel and Business Writing).
  • Within probationary period must successfully pass Microsoft Office Suite Power User test (Word and Excel).

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ secretarial experience in an office and/or school setting, preferred.
  • Experience with PC computer platform, required, and Macintosh computer platform, preferred.
  • Proficient in various productivity software programs.
  • Experience with mathematical problem solving, including development of graphs, charts, and other summary statistics.

SKILLS/OTHER:

  • Demonstrated ability to make sound judgments regarding establishing and organizing work responsibilities, meeting deadlines, and handling stressful situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work with a variety of people in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle professionally a wide variety of situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask.
  • Desire and ability to engage in continuing education and skills upgrading.

Criminal History Check: Upon hire, employees of the Monroe County Intermediate School District are fingerprinted for a Michigan and FBI criminal history check. The processing fee of $43.25 is the responsibility of the applicant.
