Monsignor Slade Catholic School, a Pre-K (2) through 8th grade school located in Glen Burnie, Maryland, is seeking a full-time Middle School Religion Teacher. Our teachers are responsible for planning and implementing standards-based lessons as prescribed by the Archdiocese of Baltimore. This position teaches religion to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.

Essential Functions

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with Catholic teachings and the curriculum standards of the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
• Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment where students feel valued and respected.
• Teach students about Catholic doctrine, scripture, sacraments, morality, and social justice principles.
• Encourage critical thinking and discussion around religious and ethical issues.
• Incorporate a variety of instructional methods, including discussions, group activities, and other forms of differentiated instruction.
• Assess student progress through quizzes, tests, projects, and other forms of evaluation.
• Provide individualized support and guidance to students as needed.
• Communicate regularly and effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavioral expectations, classroom activities.
• Maintain an accurate and updated gradebook, ensuring both students and parents have an understanding of academic progress.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events.

Position Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Theology, Religious Studies, or a related field
• MSDE teaching certification or eligibility for certification in the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
• Practicing Catholic and commitment to Catholic teachings and values.
• Previous teaching experience, particularly in a middle school setting, is preferred.
• Strong classroom management skills and ability to create a positive learning environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the school community.
