Job Specific Information : We are seeking an Alternative I Teacher who will also lead the implementation of the school's Restorative Justice (RJ) processes and programming.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION :

Under direction / supervision of the school principal, the Alternative Level I teacher plans and implements a program for secondary school students to support students in experiencing greater academic and behavioral success and in meeting exit criteria to make them eligible to return full-time to a regular comprehensive school program;

improve student attendance; engage parents in the students program; improve behavior and social skills and provide differentiated instruction and increase the amount of school work completed.

CERTIFICATE LICENSE :

Meet Maryland State Department of Education certification requirements in appropriate field of education.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES :

A belief that all students can succeed. Skills in motivating reluctant learners, effective monitoring skills for individual and small groups of students and building school connectedness.

Skilled in assessment, intervention implementation, data collection and analysis. Skills in behavioral management strategies and social skills instruction.

Ability to effectively engage parents. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors. Excellent communication and human relations skills.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE :

Master's degree or equivalent with special interest in teaching discouraged learners and at-risk adolescents. . Three years outstanding teacher experience.
