Montgomery Transport is Hiring a Director, Dedicated Operations Near Birmingham, AL

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Dedicated Operations will oversee and manage all aspects of the dedicated trucking operations within the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient and effective operations, optimizing the use of resources, maintaining high standards of safety and compliance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Director will also be instrumental in developing strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and achieve business growth objectives

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the daily operations of the dedicated trucking division, ensuring efficient and cost-effective performance
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and ensure operational excellence.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to support the growth and profitability of the dedicated trucking operations.
  • Work closely with the sales and account management teams to understand customer needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and staff to ensure seamless onboarding, minimize turnover and maximize ongoing productivity
  • Fill in for absent or unavailable personnel and on special projects related to optimizing fleet operations and achieving profitability
  • Perform administrative duties such as payroll, driver counseling, accident reviews, filing and documenting, resolving pay issues, tracking and analyzing fleet utilization metrics and fuel purchases, and creating operational reports
  • Maintain the Company's safety culture to include daily driver safety messages, monthly driver safety briefings, and enforce company policies to ensure DOT compliance and company safety requirements are being met
  • One-on-One Coaching with Driver Managers
  • Assigning Drivers to DM boards
  • Discussing operations with new hire orientation classes
  • Properly route drivers in for truck/trailer swaps
  • Work with Maintenance on extended breakdown issues
  • Other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in trucking operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • Customer service skills, including actively listening, thorough and consistent follow up, coupled with a friendly disposition.
  • Ability to articulate and exchange information consistently and thoroughly.
  • Detail oriented, with ability to multi-task, in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office product suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
