Description

Responsible for administration of the Monument Chemical Health, Safety, Security & Emergency Services programs for all global locations. Role will assume equivalent responsibilities for any new global acquisitions.

Duties include leadership, continuous improvement and management skills necessary to identify, evaluate, mitigate, and monitor the company's H&S related programs. Implements related Enterprise Risk Management tools, practices, and policies to analyze and report H&S incidents & trends with the goal of gap identification and completion of gap closure plans. This role ensures the organization H&S policies and strategies are in conformance with applicable agency regulations and minimum expectations of Monument Chemical. Oversees and monitors priority based H&S risk management activities of the individual Sites and Functions. Monitors and analyzes risks within the company's business units and reports on these risks to the Global ERM / Governance Leader. Responsible for reporting on identified gap closures or special projects as assigned within Monument Chemical or other Heritage business units as assigned.

Essential Functions / Key Accountabilities

Corporate Enterprise Risk Management Organization duties include the direct supervision of the following North American personnel / roles.

Duties include role definitions, annual Goal Setting, Performance Management and identification of role gaps and gap closure plans.

· Individual Site Health & Safety Managers in North America. Dotted line duties to Kallo representative.

Responsible for managing key activities of the MC H&S Management System - All activities RACI defined

· Develop and implement H&S MS policies, system requirements and KPI's

· Define and implement systems and tools to ensure assets are operated within their defined constraints

· Ensure Management Systems are conducted, improvement plans and goals are set using defined metrics

· Execute H&S Management Systems including hazard assessments, risk reviews, MOC's, PSSR's, training and procedures

· Participate in and prepare for audits and MS reviews. Provide data for metrics, tracking and improvement plans

· Spend adequate time in Sites for proper reinforcing of Management Systems and timely gap closures

· Timely report and participation/auditing of Root Cause Investigations of near misses and incidents. Focus on repeat incidents.

· Identify and advocate for resources needed to ensure competency of the H&S Management Systems

· Collaborate with initiative for new acquisition

· Primary contact for ensuring all sites have proper Emergency Services assets to address both Site and Weather-related issues.

This includes overall management of the Medical and Case Management Processes

  • Accountable for individual Site Security programs including properly trained personnel ( contractor or MC ) and all documentation required by Insurance or outside agencies.
  • Coordinate the Corporate Resiliency Audit Program utilizing Site H&S Resources as required.
  • Primary contact for Insurance Carrier related requirements (Site & Corporate)
  • Primary contact for Contractor Management Process (ISN)
  • Manage all H&S information as required by individual Sites / Corporate ERM and Corporate Governance Team.
  • Accountable for attendance at Site ERM Meetings and any requested agenda items as requested by the GLT or Corporate Governance Team
  • SOCMA Involvement (North America Only) - Timely Reporting & Information Requests

Education

Bachelor of Science in Engineering preferred (Chemical or Petroleum desired). Bachelor of Science in Health, Safety, Process Safety and Environmental related fields with relevant experience considered.

Experience / Required Skills

· 5 years HSE / Compliance related experience and overall performance accountability.

· Minimum of 10 years work inside an operational environment. This role requires active involvement in plant settings.

· Leadership and effective people management skills

· Creative problem solving and critical thinking skills

· Must have proven leadership and people management skills - able to inspire, coach, develop, and lead employees.

· Demonstrated ability to act decisively and deliver results.

· Strong H&S related knowledge

· Strong communication skills (Written & Verbal)

Physical Demands

  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long periods of time, up to 12 hours per day.

  • Raising objects up to 25 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 15 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds consistently from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
  • Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Possible subject to environmental conditions. Activities could occur inside and outside.
  • Subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 for periods of more than one hour.
  • Subject to vibration. Exposure to movements of the extremities or whole body. Operate/drive utility vehicle.
  • Subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE for tasks as required. FRC uniform, hard hat, safety toe work boots, safety glasses, gloves etc.
