Moody's Corporation is seeking an experienced Senior Cloud FinOps Engineer to join our dynamic team in the Platform Engineering group to contribute to the Cloud Cost Optimization programs across Moody's Analytics. This position will play a key role in the financial operations of our cloud-based services, ensuring cost efficiency and financial transparency. You will collaborate with key technology and business stakeholders across Moody's to ensure we effectively manage our large enterprise cloud environment and expenses to deliver across all areas of identified opportunity.
Responsibilities:
  • Serve as subject matter expert in cloud cost management and manage the financial aspects of cloud-based services, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Collect, monitor, and analyze data, assist with forecasting, demand planning, and make recommendations on cost optimization strategies such as reservations, savings plans, rightsizing and underutilized/overutilized resources etc.
  • Create cloud usage and cost reporting to bring transparency into cloud spending and help bring an 'end to end' perspective on technology cloud investments; partner with relevant stakeholders and provide analysis, reporting and presentations to effectively communicate the ROI and strategic value of our cloud investments.
  • Unique ability to bridge finance and technology: Partner with infrastructure engineering teams, application development teams, product leadership, and finance: analyzing cloud costs, billing data accrual and reconciliation, cost allocations, identification of opportunity, determining cause, and providing visibility into results.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with cloud service providers.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in cloud technology and financial management.
  • Assist in the negotiation of contracts and agreements with vendors providing platform tools.
  • Ensure adherence to financial regulations and standards in cloud operations.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 year’s experience in a public cloud and SaaS environments.
  • Demonstrable experience in Business Financial Management, preferably in Cloud Computing related area.
  • Expertise in the cloud services architecture and cost mechanics (compute, containers, databases, serverless, storage, licensing, amortizations etc.)
  • Hands-on cloud development experience with a deep understanding of cloud-based services usage and pricing; AWS, Azure and/or GCP.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, debugging, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a global cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strategic thinking with a customer-centric mindset and a strong focus on delivering measurable results.
For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $123,100.00 - $178,450.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for a completion bonus. Moody’s also offers insurance and a discounted employee stock purchase plan for limited duration employees.
