Moore & Van Allen PLLC, a dynamic and fast-growing full-service law firm of more than 400 attorneys and professionals, is seeking an experienced Senior Pricing Manager to join its Charlotte, NC office. The Senior Pricing Manager is a crucial role within our law firm, focusing on developing and implementing pricing strategies that maximize the firm's profitability and competitiveness. This role involves analyzing market trends, evaluating the firm's pricing performance, and collaborating with various departments to ensure pricing strategies align with the firm's overall objectives. This position involves direct interaction with attorneys, practice team leaders, and firm management, requiring exceptional communication and presentation skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Pricing Strategy Development:
  • Develop and implement pricing strategies to maximize revenue and market share.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor pricing, and customer demand to inform pricing decisions.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to set pricing objectives and ensure alignment with the firm's strategic goals.
Pricing Analysis and Optimization:
  • Conduct regular analysis of pricing performance and profitability.
  • Identify opportunities for price adjustments and optimization to enhance revenue and profitability.
  • Use advanced analytical tools and techniques to assess pricing strategies and their impact on the firm's financial performance.
  • Trains attorneys on pricing best practices and using pricing as an advantage. Develops tools and processes in support of alternative fee arrangements, value fees, and creative pricing strategies that balance risk/reward and are mutually beneficial to the client and the Firm.
  • Responds to requests for quotes using economic models to assess the profitability of new business proposals.
Market Research:
  • Conduct comprehensive market research to understand industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer preferences.
  • Use market insights to inform pricing strategies and identify opportunities for differentiation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with sales, marketing, finance, and other departments to develop and implement pricing initiatives.
  • Provide pricing guidance and support to business units to ensure consistency and alignment with the overall pricing strategy.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to set pricing for new products and services.
Pricing Tools and Systems:
  • Implement and manage pricing tools and systems to support effective pricing decisions.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity within pricing systems and tools.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve pricing tools and methodologies.
  • Keep informed regarding pricing and engagement arrangement tools and trends within the legal profession.
Performance Tracking and Reporting:
  • Monitor and report on key pricing metrics, including revenue, margin, and market share.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on pricing performance and recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain pricing dashboards and reports to support decision-making.
  • Enhance and further develop tools and processes to support the scoping of engagements and reporting.
  • Support the development and execution of pricing education efforts for attorneys and business services stakeholders around key initiatives such as client and matter level profitability reporting and annual rate increases.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree; Data Analytics; Master's degree preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of law firm engagements and pricing models, including inputs, constraints, leverage, and scope definition required.
  • 5-7 yrs. experience in working in a professional service firm required; 7 years of experience in legal pricing or finance within a law firm or similar professional services environment, preferred.
  • Advanced Excel knowledge required; SQL experience preferred.
Regular in-person attendance is required to perform essential functions of this interactive position. May need to work more than the standard 40 hours per week to accomplish essential duties of the position.
