Brief Description

Join a leading company in the Maritime Industry in a critical role on our Marketing team! Moran Towing Corporation (www.morantug.com) has an exciting opportunity available as a Director, Marketing in our New Canaan, CT or Jacksonville, FL offices. This full-time, exempt position reports to the Vice President, Ship Docking Sales and Marketing.

Position Summary

The Director, Marketing is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive marketing strategy that enhances visibility and fosters growth across all business units. This collaborative team player works closely with senior leadership to align marketing efforts with overall corporate objectives. The role demands a visionary leader who not only follows current trends but also anticipates future opportunities through innovative marketing strategies.

The Director, Marketing is an experienced professional with a passion for the job and the ability to employ unique marketing techniques. As a skilled strategist, the incumbent drives the team's organization, creativity, and enthusiasm, collaborating effectively with peers and senior executives to ensure strategic alignment. This role understands key performance metrics and tracking tools for market research, forecasts, competitor analyses, and campaign results, and translates results into actionable insights for the marketing team. The goal of this position is to build a strong brand, increase the company’s market presence and share, and maximize revenues to thrive against competitors.

Specific Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Develop and execute the company’s overall marketing strategy in alignment with business goals and objectives.
  • Lead and manage a marketing team, including hiring, employee learning and development, workloads, schedules, and deadlines.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of Moran’s services, customers’ business issues and needs, and market and competitive trends.
  • Manage conception, development, and implementation of marketing plans and strategy, and promotional programs to drive customer interest and sales.
  • Analyze brand positioning. Conduct customer, brand, and product research initiatives aligned to the company’s brand direction, mission, vision, and values.
  • Build brand awareness and increase brand value and profitability.
  • Develop branding and corporate identity initiatives in partnership with the leadership team.
  • Spearhead digital marketing initiatives, including Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Pay-Per-Click (PPC), content marketing, and social media strategies to enhance online presence and engagement.
  • Utilize advanced analytics to inform strategy adjustments and report on ROI.
  • Utilize Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems to enhance customer interactions and retention.
  • Drive innovation in marketing processes and tactics through testing new approaches and adapting to market changes.
  • Develop and execute advertising for and assist in the facilitation and coordination of customer events and trade shows.
  • Produce valuable branded materials, including external-facing presentations, supporting operations with bids and proposals as needed, content for the company’s online presence, and editorial design.
  • Develop and execute campaigns for corporate promotion and launching of new service lines.
  • Develop and manage marketing budgets.
  • Work with agency providers, consultants, freelancers, and other suppliers as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum five years’ progressive management experience in marketing.
  • Ten years of marketing experience, including in digital and print marketing, content marketing, and social media marketing.
  • Proven track record of success in developing and implementing impactful marketing strategies that drive business growth.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office and Adobe suite skills.
  • Proven ability to plan and manage budgets.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative and analytical mindset with proven market and brand strategy experience and a customer-oriented approach.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Brand Management experience.
  • Related industry knowledge or experience.
  • Experience managing a remote work force.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including Google Analytics and CRM software (i.e., Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics).
  • Experience with Jira or similar project management tool.

Physical Requirements include:

  • Ability to work safely.
  • Close and color vision for reading and proofing of printed material, graphics, and computer displays.
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Adept use of a computer, including good finger dexterity.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Hearing and speaking, including the ability to present to an audience.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed mainly in a traditional office setting with periods of non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends. Customer entertainment and weekend customer events will be required during the year.
  • Ability and means to travel up to 50% as required.
