Morgan Stanley is Hiring a Global Loans Closing Director (AVP) Near New York, NY

We're seeking someone to join our team as a Director in ISG Fixed Income Operations to fulfill a multi-functional position supporting the North America Distressed Trading desk, assisting with global loan trade closing, and providing trade support for distressed loan trade closing.

In the Operations division, we partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships. This is a Team Specialist position at Director level within Product Support & Services, which is responsible for providing transaction support and managing post execution processes.

What you'll do in the role:
• Serve as a subject matter expert within functional area, working with Team Manager to manage processes, risks and/or projects, proposing and implementing improvements/changes
• Act as key problem solver for area or expertise, applying detailed knowledge to address unique or novel situations, recognize risks and draw out key issues
• Coordinate work, train and develop other team members where required, including task allocation, and project contribution
• Responsible for managing a trading portfolio of secondary loan trades, including coordinating with trade counterparties and clients to receive and review Distressed loan trade documentation and loan pricing calculations.
• Self-manage trade closing through communication with custodians, admin agents, counterparties, and fund administrators, while minimizing operational risk.
• Additional responsibilities include assisting with trade support functionality, such as position change monitoring, amending/correcting trade tickets, trade reconciliation, reviewing/monitoring profit and loss events, and serving as a point of contact for trade escalations to the trading desk.
• Operate and understand proprietary trading systems as well as external trading platforms such as ClearPar & Virtus Trade Settlement as they pertain to the loan trading function.
• Interact with the Loan Trading desk, Legal, Sales and Operations groups to develop and deliver solutions for our clients.
• Actively converse with internal and external legal counsel to generate loan documentation and accelerate the closing process while mitigating legal risk
• Candidate should be familiar with loan restructurings including PIK calculations, bankruptcy trade claims and LSTA/LMA trade settlements.

What you'll bring to the role:
• Ability to lead by example, work with drive and determination, and put forward challenging views to senior levels
• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of functional area and operational/compliance policies and procedures of their team
• Ability to operate independently across the majority of day-to-day responsibilities
• Culture carrier across Operations, embracing the Firm's core values and acting as a role model
• Bachelor's degree in Finance/Operations Management
• Knowledge of Par and Distressed loan trading within LSTA & LMA standards, with a functional understanding of loan pricing, principal paydowns, interest calculations, delayed compensation, and cost of carry - familiarity with basic accounting principles is preferred.
• Very strong customer service skills and exceptional written and verbal communication ability.
• Exceptional problem solving, research and analytical skills with the ability and willingness to work in a structured, high paced environment, with daily routine operations.
• At least 4 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role

Role is hybrid and will require in office attendance 3 days/week.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between 85000 and 130000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs
