Department Profile

The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm's books and records, and by contributing to firm wide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley's various industry and government regulators, and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community.

Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley's various businesses and its senior management team. Our employees support numerous activities such as Product Controllership, Profit & Loss (P&L) analysis, Regulatory Reporting, Digitization, Business Management, Capital Requirements and Sourcing / Vendor Management.

Description

  • Draft quarterly MD&A and footnote disclosures for U.S. Bank subsidiaries by reviewing comparable info (MS 10-Q / K and peer filings), and by interviewing subject matter experts within the firm.
  • Compile footnote data based on inputs from central team, and review support prepared by other team members.
  • Review test results related to internal controls and prepare support binders for potential review by internal and external auditors, external regulators, and management.
  • Support presentation of the above to senior leadership (e.g. Banks, BoD Audit Committee, Banks, CFO).
  • Prepare proforma financials including merged affiliates / subsidiaries, with appropriate eliminations.
  • Familiar with general ledger processes and month-end close as some assistance will be required in these areas.

Qualifications

1) 3-5 years of experience with

a. general ledger reporting

b. disclosure production and

c. accounting research related to disclosures

2) Experience within financial services

  • 3) CPA or accounting degree

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $85,000 and $135,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
