Human Resource Generalist

Department: Human Resource

Reports to: Human Resource Manager

Summary: The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including, but not limited to, hiring and interviewing staff, training, and development, maintaining employee records and enforcing company policies and practices. Reports directly to the Human Resource Manager.

This position oversees HR Functions for Thurston, Clallam, Pierce, Lewis, and Grays Harbor counties.

Unique Responsibilities: The following additional responsibilities are unique to the Human Resource Generalist:

  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Ensures HR department is prepared for annual auditing by implementing recurring checks and balances to ensure continuity. Supports HR Manager by compiling required documentation for audits. Recommends suggestions and improvements based on audit outcomes.
  • Leads the administration of the recruiting program, responsible for job posting, recruitment, interviews, facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Responsible for full cycle onboarding process to ensure compliance with State and Federal requirements. Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications, including monthly debarment checks.
  • Promote Morningside’s brand and reputation to attract and retain the best talent. Networks with Morningside stakeholders to promote exposure to the mission. Ensure positive, timely, and effective communication between all stakeholders including clients, parents, guardians, residential providers, staff, employers, and referral agencies. Provide assistance with Morningside Newsletter.
  • Conduct, track and document compliance of Mental Health First Aid trainings.
  • Develop and monitor the workplace accident and illness prevention program with HR Manager and Safety Committiee.
  • Analyze and update Morningside policies and assist with Handbook development.
  • Accurately, completely, and in a timely manner, create, maintain, and manage the organization’s records in accordance with applicable laws and/or best practices.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations, in conjunction with and to support Human Resource Manager.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies inhuman resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Identifies areas for improvement within department to ensure equitable and streamlined processes organization wide.

Unique Accountabilities: The following additional accountabilities (measures of performance) are unique to the Human Resource Generalist:

  • Meet or exceed the performance standards, goals, and objectives of the department set forth in the current annual business plan.
  • Accurately, completely, and in a timely manner, create, maintain, and manage the organization’s records in accordance with applicable laws and/or best practices.
  • Ensure positive, timely, and effective communication between all stakeholders including clients, parents, guardians, residential providers, staff, employers, and referral agencies.
  • Complete all responsibilities and interact with staff, clients, families, and other community members.

Unique Skills, Education, and Experience: The following additional required skills, education, and experience are unique to the Human Resource Generalist:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • At least two years of human resource experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS (Paylocity) and talent management systems.

Unique Working Conditions: The following additional or different working conditions are unique to the Human Resource Generalist:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Work is performed in an office setting where interruptions, strict
  • deadlines, and working independently on multiple assignments are constant.
  • Weekend and evening hours may be necessary.

Mobility sufficient to attend meetings in a variety of locations and settings required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.76 - $29.24 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
