Job Description
John Morrissey Accountants, Inc. (JMA), an accounting firm with offices in Rockford and Belvidere Illinois, is seeking a high-quality individual to join a great team. Accountants with experience in public accounting who are looking for a great work environment should apply.
The candidate should exhibit: strong client relationship skills; verbal and written communication skills; problem solving ability; technical proficiency; and the ability to adhere to processes and develop efficiencies in their work. The candidate must continuously prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with a high level of focus on quality, accuracy, and confidentiality.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- 5 to 7 years accounting experience in a professional environment
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent related experience
- Public accounting experience a plus
- CPA or Enrolled Agent is a plus
- Experience preparing individual and business tax returns a plus
- Provide exceptional client service using strong communication, meeting deadlines and listening and responding to client needs in a timely fashion
- Strong organizational and computer skills
- Clear communication and team work skills
- Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving ability
- Must be able to work independently and, maintain productivity and accuracy
- Experience with MS Office (Word & Excel at a minimum)
- Experience with accounting and tax software; Ultra Tax, QuickBooks and Creative Solutions Accounting/ACS a plus
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Examine accounting records; prepare basic accounting and bookkeeping reports
- Prepare financial statements
- Statement and account reconciliations
- Sales and Use Tax calculations and compliance
- Billings and accounts receivable management
- Accounts payable and Receivable
- Journal entries and adjusting journal entries
- Maintain fixed assets, reconcile additions and disposals, post depreciation expense entries
