As a Pricing Insights Analyst, you will be a part of the Pricing department, responsible for research, analysis, and interpretation of data related to market research. This is accomplished by: Gathering data and performing analysis on various aspects of market research and related practices. You will review information and determine the most effective methods to organize data for analysis and reporting purposes. Researching, designing, developing, and managing databases and computer-based programs for analysis of key pricing-related resources. You will research problems and act within established procedures for the Pricing department. This includes following up on problems until they are resolved and keeping your manager informed of any unresolved issues. Analyzing existing systems and business processes to identify opportunities to automate and streamline. Developing, generating, maintaining, and distributing routine and ad hoc reports. You will analyze information, ensure accuracy, reconcile results, and identify, research, and explain anomalies and variances in data. Participating in the planning of complex key reporting deliverables. You will establish scope and objectives, including development of the strategy for completion. Monitoring market dynamics using current reporting tools to maintain awareness. You will recommend and assist with enhancements to those reporting tools. Designing, developing, and maintaining tools to assist with regulatory testing to ensure compliance controls have been adhered to. Reporting at least weekly within the Pricing department on analysis conclusions. You will maintain familiarity of ongoing work within Pricing that might impact analysis. Taking responsibility for other unique and ongoing responsibilities as assigned. Do you have what it takes? Completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Knowledge of the residential mortgage industry, mortgage insurance, premium products, and pricing. Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt quickly to changing priorities. Demonstrated organizational skills, an understanding of urgency of requests, and how to prioritize work. Demonstrated ability to lead and act as a subject matter expert and resource for others. Demonstrated knowledge of business processes and technologies across a broad spectrum. Experience with SAS or Python (or other scripting language), SQL (or other database technology), and Tableau (or other data visualization technology). Demonstrated ability to structure problems, draw conclusions, and present findings. More than 3 years of relevant work experience (mortgage industry preferred). Able to explain complex concepts to a non-technical audience. A data detective! What does success look like? First 30 days: Training in mortgage insurance, premium products, and pricing strategies. Learning policies and procedures to perform the role. Meeting with people in several departments to learn about their roles and how to partner with them. First 6 months: Becoming more knowledgeable on MGIC’s systems and trading partner platforms (i.e. Loan Origination Systems and Product & Pricing Engines). Leading research and analysis projects related to pricing. Evolving existing and creating new key reporting deliverables for the Pricing department. First year: Building strong business relationships with key stakeholders so you are recognized as a go-to resource for pricing insights. Becoming a champion for continuous improvement and making recommendations contributing to strategy and vision. Developing a thorough understanding of MGIC’s systems and processes and how they are interrelated.
