Motion Recruitment is Hiring an IT Systems Administrator Near Normal, IL

Our client is a trailblazer known for its pioneering work and commitment to excellence. Important Details:

  • This is a 6-month contract opportunity (full-time, 5 days/week - W2 employment)
  • The daily schedule is usually 8AM - 5PM but depending on business needs could be 8AM - 8PM.
  • This role is fully on-site in Normal, IL.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with various teams to ensure seamless IT system operations, contributing to the overall success of the organization.
  • SOP Documentation and Design: Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and architectural designs to enhance team efficiency.
  • Capacity Planning: Conduct capacity planning for all critical services to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
  • On-Call Rotation: Participate in on-call rotations to swiftly respond to system emergencies, maintaining operational continuity.
  • Stay Current: Keep abreast of industry trends, recommending and implementing new technologies to boost efficiency and innovation.

Virtualization Expertise:

  • Design, implement, and manage virtualization technologies like VMware vSphere or KVM.
  • Manage hyper-converged solutions such as VxRail and vSAN clusters.
  • Optimize virtual infrastructures for peak performance and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve virtualization issues with thorough root cause analysis.

SAN Fabric Storage Network Management:

  • Design, configure, and maintain SAN fabric on Cisco MDS switches.
  • Implement SAN management practices, including zoning and masking.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot SAN performance issues.

Backup & Storage Solutions:

  • Design and implement comprehensive backup solutions for servers, VMs, and data.
  • Manage backup schedules, retention policies, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Conduct regular backup tests to ensure data integrity.
  • Develop and implement file services solutions (NFS and SMB).

Server Management:

  • Install, configure, and maintain rack-mounted servers.
  • Oversee server hardware management, including upgrades and replacements.
  • Ensure server security and compliance with industry best practices.

Automation with AWX Ansible:

  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Ansible and AWX.
  • Develop Ansible playbooks and roles for routine task automation.
  • Integrate Ansible with other tools for comprehensive automation solutions.

Kubernetes Knowledge:

  • Possess a general understanding of on-premises Kubernetes platforms.
  • Design and build physical compute resources for Kubernetes environments.
