Mount Pleasant Community Church is Hiring a Community Kids Coordinator - St. Johns Campus Near St. Johns, MI

Department: St. Johns Campus - Children's Ministry

Classification: Hourly, Non-Exempt, 15-20 Hours Per Week

Estimated Start Date: August 1, 2024

Primary Functions:

To advance the vision and mission of Community Church by overseeing and providing leadership for Community Kids Ministry at our St. Johns Campus during all worship service hours. The ability to develop, empower, and support volunteers who can Lead kids in to a focused life with Jesus Christ is essential.

Duties:

  1. Be available on Sunday mornings to oversee ministries of Community Kids at our St. Johns Campus. Sundays are key working days.
  2. Recruit, equip, and empower Community Kids volunteers. Provide ongoing care, encouragement and appreciation for all volunteers.
  3. Develop a structure of volunteers, and volunteer leaders. Equip them for each weekend, providing them with all resources needed for the classrooms, small groups, and kids.
  4. Support volunteers using Community Kids approved curriculum and supply them with necessary resources.
  5. Provide communication information for: Bulletin, Enews, Brochures, Mailings to Parents, Mailings to Volunteers.
  6. Regular communication with Parents (mailings, conflict resolution, etc.).
  7. Apply Community Kids best practices and policy including reinforcing security, check-in, and emergency procedures as well as volunteer standards.
  8. Oversee the setup, organization, room management, teardown and cleaning of our St. Johns Community Kids spaces.
  9. Be involved in the long range goals and planning for Community Church Children’s Ministries.
  10. Coordinate with the Community Kids staff at other campus locations. 
  11. Provide leadership and assist in key Children’s Ministry Events including, but not limited to, Children’s Christmas Program and Vacation Bible School.
  12. Attend Community Church staff and/or department meetings as deemed necessary.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned by the St. Johns Campus Pastor.

Accountability:

The Community Kids Coordinator is accountable to the St. Johns Campus Pastor and will receive an annual performance review. This position is influenced by the Director of Community Kids. Compensation is reviewed annually by the Elder Board and the Board of Trustees.

Qualifications:

  1. Effective communication skills (oral and written).
  2. Excellent people management skills both with paid and volunteer staff.
  3. Proven track record of recruiting, equipping, and leading others (volunteer or paid staff).
  4. Experience in ministry in a medium to large church setting is a plus
  5. An engaging teacher, with a strong biblical and theological background.
  6. A self-motivated leader possessing relational skills with staff, volunteers and congregation.
  7. Basic proficiency with productivity tools, including, but not limited to, Excel, Word, and ProPresenter.
  8. Basic proficiency with database software (Community Church to provide training).
  9. Undergraduate degree preferred.

  6. Committed to appropriate confidentiality in the lives of those we serve and care for.
  7. Possesses a contagious passion for reaching those without Christ, both nearby and around the world.
  8. Personally motivated to respond to all issues with the grace and love of God.
  9. Ability to set and reach goals and objectives, and organize ministries to reach objectives.
  10. Possess an excellent work ethic and passion to do the best you can with the resources you have.
  11. Whenever possible, willingly collaborate with other staff and ministry teams as opportunities or needs arise.
  12. Champion unity in the church on every occasion, zero tolerance for gossip or the misuse of words and a thorough commitment to conflict resolution as detailed in Matthew 18.
