Mount St. Dominic Academy is Hiring a School and College Counselor Near Caldwell, NJ

Mount St. Dominic Academy is an independent 9-12 all-girls high school, sponsored by the Sisters of St. Dominic. The school is uniquely situated in western Essex County and draws from The Caldwells, West Essex, Cedar Grove, Verona, Montclair, Glen Ridge as well as Bloomfield, Belleville, Newark and The Oranges. We seek resumes from qualified educators of diverse backgrounds who are interested in a full-time School and College Counselor position to begin in the Fall of 2024. The successful candidate will have relevant experience and teaching certification. An advanced degree and/or experience in an all-girls school are a plus. Preference will be given to candidates with experience as a School and College Counselor.
The responsibilities of the school and college counselor will include the following:
  • Work to best meet the unique academic, social, and emotional needs of students in your caseload in support of academic success and social emotional growth; collaboration with the director of counseling and school administration regarding concerns of students who are not acclimating or not meeting with academic success.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in the college application process to best meet the stated goals of the college counseling program.
  • Work with the Director of Counseling in coordination of special programs in support of school climate/culture, career and college readiness, etc.
  • Facilitate the freshman and transfer transition process.
  • Support students through the academic scheduling process to ensure all graduation requirements are met and students positioned for acceptance into competitive colleges and universities.
  • Consult and collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents for the purpose of best meeting the needs of students and promoting academic success and personal growth.
  • Promote the mission and vision of Mount Saint Dominic in all interactions.
