Position Summary
The Repair/Rehab Specialist is responsible for working directly with clients, contractors, care managers, and funders to improve housing conditions by providing essential home repairs in order to eliminate threats to life, health, and safety. This includes repairing or replacing heating, plumbing, roofing, flooring, septic, and electrical systems as well as adding accessibility features like ramps, railings, and grab bars. Essential home repairs improve quality of life, preserve affordable housing, and prevent displacement and homelessness. MHOs Essential Home Repair program serves low-income elderly, veteran, disabled, single parent, and large family households in Buncombe, McDowell, Rutherford, and Yancey Counties.

There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position, however, this position is charged with managing client, contractor, and funder relationships.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Working Conditions
Cognitive: Able to accurately read written information, communicate via phone and via email, and verbally/in-person in the English language; able to understand and relate to concepts behind specific ideas and remember multiple tasks/assignments given over a period of days; able to attend to tasks/functions for more than 60 minutes at a time; able to concentrate on detail in both office and field with moderate interruption.
Physical: Able to push/pull/carry objects less than 40 pounds; sit, stand, bend, kneel, walk, climb stairs; may need to enter/exit buildings that are under construction or in disrepair, occasionally, without normal ingress/egress available; able to travel offsite via provided transportation, to MHO job sites, meetings, and events, or to attend out-of-town meetings, trainings, or events.
Environmental: Subject to low to moderate noise typical of office work environments (computers, printers, staff interactions); exposed to construction site noise and hazards for moderate periods of time; must wear personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, hardhat, earplugs, and safe footwear when warranted; subjected to various weather conditions including hot or cold temperatures and precipitation.
Time-Oriented: Must be able to work 37.5 hours during the regular workweek (Monday-Friday), with occasional work required during evenings, weekends, or holidays.
Compensation
This is an hourly position with a pay range of $25 to $30 per hour, based on a full-time 37.5-hour work week. Hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with a one-hour lunch. A vehicle is provided for work-related use during normal work hours. MHO provides employer paid medical, dental, vision, life, short and long-term disability insurance; 3% retirement contribution; 12 paid holidays; and 20 days PTO in year one, increasing one day per year of service up to 25 days.
