Mountain Laurel/Mingo Logan is Hiring a Mining Engineer Near Sharples, WV

FLSA CLASSIFICATION: EX-08

GRADE: Engineer II

JOB LOCATION: Mountain Laurel Complex - Sharples, WV

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:

To provide engineering support regarding design and technical assistance with all aspects of the underground mining operations.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support safety action plans and processes to meet company safety objectives.
  • Oversee adherence to permitting conditions and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including subsidence surveys and mining notices.
  • Submittal of mine plans to State and Federal agencies.
  • Prepare mine plans, including roof/ground control, drainage design, mine ventilation, water handling, and dust suppression systems.
  • Coordinate and work with survey crews as required.
  • Maintain mine mapping, including semi-annual and annual map submittals.
  • Complete month-end production and royalty reporting.
  • Prepare budget model and determine advancing capital needs.
  • Perform economic evaluations of projects.
  • Plan and carry out special projects as required by mine management.

PREFERRED AND REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in mining, civil engineering, or equivalent field
  • 2 - 4 Years engineering experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • WV Underground coal mining certification or the ability and willingness to obtain.
  • Working knowledge of mining laws and regulations (preferred)
